National Organizations
One
professional organization that I chose was the National Association for the
Education of Young Children. I chose this organization because they work with
early childhood programs to help them provide high-quality education to young
children. I think that they are very committed to improving the quality of
early childhood, and they work towards improving laws and regulation concerning
early childhood.
The second
organization that I chose was the National Association of Early Childhood
Teacher Educators. I chose this organization because, as stated on their
website that one of their purposes is to, “provide a forum for
consideration of issues and concerns of interest to educators of early
childhood teacher educators” (Purpose, 2014, p. 1). I think that it is
important that teachers participate regularly in their professional
development. There is always new information and research on early childhood,
and it is important that teachers stay abreast of current news.
The third
organization that I chose was the Association for Childhood Education
International. I chose this organization because as stated in the mission
statement, “our mission is to support the optimal education, development, and
well-being of children worldwide” (acei.org, 2014, p.1). This organization
works for the rights of children and their families. They not only work with
organizations and early childhood programs, they work with families.

Michele,
ReplyDeleteAs I commented to another colleague in our group, our Master's degree has put us in a very good position in terms of educational requirements for jobs. There are many other factors that come into play when choosing these jobs. Factors such as location, salary, and commitment to time. Although I have always been passionate about helping children and families, I have always put my own children and family as a priority. Now that my children are grown, I am able to branch out and commit more time to my job. All of the jobs you posted seem to be rewarding jobs. The adjunct instructor job would be a challenge for me. I often joke with my coworkers and say that I have never taught anyone older than five years old. Good luck to you!
Mary Jo
Michele,
ReplyDeleteI like the organizations that you chose to look into, they are all very informative. I am also looking forward to using my Master's degree. I really do not want to be one of those people who gets a Master degree and never uses it. I have also noticed that in the state that I live in that their are more job opportunities available in education if you have a Masters degree.
I think getting a master's degree opens up a world of opportunities for early childhood education professionals and what they are able to do. I think the more early childhood professionals are knowledgeable and educated about the field we are in, the more we are able to teach our children and even other professionals. I was never one of those people that wanted children of my own, but i have devoted my life to caring and educating other peoples children. Great post and good luck.
ReplyDeleteHello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI definitely loved your organization. It seems to me that a great opportunity calls for a giant preparation. To me what matters the most is to have the experience, and only time can give us that. I'm new to the field, right now I feel like a baby bird standing on her wiggly legs, not ready to embrace flight. But I know that someday I will be ready. I particularly liked the first job opening from NAEYC. I believe it calls for skills of careful thought, understanding others, plus responding to different needs. I wish you the best luck!
Michele,
ReplyDeleteThese are all great organizations that you have chosen. I think that you will do an amazing job in any of the openings that you have chosen. This assignment helped me to realize that there are so many opportunities to help people in the world. I think that I often limit myself to one day being in a classroom setting, but I realize that I do not necessarily have to be in a classroom to help children. Maybe one day you will get the opportunity to actually do one of the jobs that you have chosen. The sky is the limit!
